John Haddock, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine
Dr. Haddock grew up in Webster Groves, Missouri. His interest in animals was encouraged from summers spent at his grandparents' Kentucky farm, the constant parade of cats and dogs that shared his home, and the time and inclination to catch and raise any and all wildlife he could: turtles, rabbits, squirrels, snakes, an alligator...got that one through the mail...fish and the occasional fledgling from its nest. After high school, Dr. Haddock attended and graduated from the University of Colorado in 1973 with a Bachelor's Degree in Biology; in 1978, he graduated from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine.
Dr. Haddock left Missouri at the break of dawn the day after graduation, and began his career in Hawaii with the Kaneohe Veterinary Clinic in 1978. He was hired as a large animal veterinarian, working on horses and livestock all over Oahu. It was a dream job, and he did not think things could get much better... but they did! In 1985, he began practice on his own, and soon after, opened the doors of Kailua Animal Clinic in 1987. He is married to Pamela, his wife of 16 years, and together they have three daughters: Tiffany, Malia, and Christine. He is proud of all three, and happy to say Malia has joined the profession as a 2009 graduate of the UC Davis College of Veterinary Medicine and is now practicing in Vancouver, Washington. His local ohana now consists of three standard poodles and a six-toed cat, Doctor Becker.
In addition to loving the practice of veterinary medicine, Dr. Haddock enjoys woodworking, bicycling, and walking Kailua beach with his wife and dogs. They hope to see you at the beach!
